On September 9th, Peter Slack and his team arrived in Beach Haven for the E-Scow Nationals Championship. Peter grew up sailing on the bay and attended many regattas at LEHYC which explains his excitement to return to the Club. This time though he wasn't at LEHYC to sail. Peter, who hails from Island Heights, is a cinematographer who works with networks such as NatGeo, Discovery and The Weather Channel. He was onsite to capture the energy, chaos and competition that surrounds an event like the E-Scow Nationals.
LEHYC ran six races over a three day period, fed breakfast, lunch and dinner to approximately 350 people, consumed 17 kegs of beer, and ultimately awarded a truckload of trophies. Peter’s team had cameras on the boats, in the water, around the Club and in front of the sailors who freely shared their thoughts. Most notable were the volunteers who welcomed the cameras throughout the event - from the Skippers' Meeting, to the kitchen, to the committee boat. The event was an overwhelming success. For Peter, filming was just the beginning.
With the holidays upon us, we have an early present for you. Join your fellow E-Scow enthusiasts, December 6th at Toms River Yacht Club for the Grand Preview of the 2015 E-Scow Nationals Documentary created by Peter Slack and narrated by you, the sailors. The show is 1 hour and 15 minutes long. We have heavy appetizers, a cash bar and popcorn for the show.
