Power Boat Cruise
POWER BOAT CRUISE
June 12-13, 2015
Get your boat ready early this year, and come along on the Power Boat Cruise to Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Here’s what’s been planned by Bob Stevens with help from Fleet Captain Tom Masterson.
Thursday, June 11
8 pm - Meet at Clubhouse to go over the weekend plans and get any questions you have answered.
Friday, June 12
9 am - Leave LEHYC docks for the journey to New York. The plan is to go up the Bay to the Manasquan Inlet, where fuel tanks can be topped off for the trip up the Atlantic Ocean to New York. After fueling, we will go out the Manasquan Inlet, turn to the North, and go on up the Jersey Coast past Sandy Hook, across Lower Bay, through New York Harbor, past the Statue of Liberty, and on up the Hudson River past the Tappan Zee Bridge about 10 miles to the Half Moon Bay Marina on Croton-on-Hudson NY.
7 pm - Dinner together at any number of wonderful restaurants in town TBD (contact Jake Turner for reservations). Cruisers will make reservations for their own rooms at the Watergate Motel or any other places to stay in the town. The Watergate is the least expensive place. We will need cabs to get to the motel from the marina. Cabs are needed, too, to get to any of the other places to stay, if you choose not to use the Watergate.
Saturday, June 13
9:30 am - Leave the marina, for those interested in traveling together, for a trip around Manhattan Island. The plan is to go back down the Hudson to the Harlem River, over on it to the East River, and out the East River to Long Island Sound. Probably have lunch somewhere on the Sound, maybe City Island. Then back to the East River, down it to the Battery, around the Battery and back up the Hudson River to the Half Moon Bay Marina. You will have circumnavigated Manhattan Island.
For those who might want to do something else, they can go up the Hudson River past West Point, through the most beautiful part of the river, sort of a gorge, to one of the towns along the river for a lunch, and then back to Half Moon Bay Marina. The river is quite pleasant, very well marked and easy to navigate. Newburgh is about 30 nautical miles north, and Kingston is about 50 miles north, of Croton-on-Hudson. Both towns have dockage and waterfront restaurants.
7 pm Dinner once again TBD (contact Jake Turner).
Sunday, June 14
9:30 am Leave the docks for LEHYC, with a stop for fuel at the Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City, just across from the Battery. Then out under the Verrazano Bridge, across Lower Bay, past Sandy Hook, and on down the Jersey Coast to the Manasquan Inlet, or, if you prefer, on down in the ocean to Little Egg Inlet and LEHYC.
What we need now is a list of those interested in making the cruise. So, PLEASE LET BOB STEVENS KNOW IF YOU PLAN TO GO ON THE TRIP ASAP. 610 316 6300, or, even better, email him at [email protected]. You need not commit right now, but please let Bob know if you think you would like to make the trip, so he can make the necessary arrangements for dockage, holding rooms at the motel, and for dinners. There will be a final "cut-off" date for commitment.
Questions? Please just ask Bob. He will make the trip on his new-to-him 23 foot SeaCraft, not on the larger Alden power boat. She will cruise at about 20 knots or so
